A Local Wedding Affair ~Nhat & Luan~

Silas & I attended his colleague's wedding some 2 weeks ago, on 12 July 2009.

A local wedding affair...was indeed an eye-opener for me. It was my first time and Silas' second. It was a simple affair, a lunch wedding in a garden-like setting. Very close to nature, that is, no air-conditioner! :o We reached at abt 1130am.

We took a photo with the newly-wed. Then, found our seats on this platform area. Silas' staff/colleagues were very welcoming & invited us (5 of us, incl 3 of Silas' Singapore colleagues) to join them at their tables. First thought: Maybe the atmosphere will be better, more fun awaits ;p

Settled at this 'extended family' table (2 tables joined together that sit ~20 of us!) Kaoz! My back is facing the stage, then I felt so awkward for a moment as the others seem to be staring at me. After all, am the only Singaporean lady there. Luckily, in the end, they split the 2 tables, and was much better, not so crammed too.

The event started at about 12noon. It started off with an intro by the emcee (he said a lot but I don't understand the least bit) It was then followed by a ceremony. The couple, together with the groom's father and the bride's mother, stood at the stage. Shortly, the emcee invited some elderly up to the stage. They gave some words of blessings (must be la) to the newly-wed. Then, there's also a champagne pouring ceremony (haha...the champagne is RED). Whole process took abt 10min. Haha...the people on the stage looked rather solemn to me. :x

What's next? FOOD definitely! A simple 6-course, unlike our Singapore style.
MENU:
  1. Ba Mon Khai Vi (Fried Dish (4 varieties))
  2. Ca Dieu Hong Sot Tu Suyen (Fish)
  3. Bo Nau Dau + Banh Mi (Beef Stew with Baguette)
  4. Ga Quay + Xoi (Roasted Chicken with Glutinuous Rice)
  5. Lau Tham Cam (Steamboat)
  6. Nhan (Longans)

Hee... the food is secondary i guess. Coz' their main dish is BEER! Kudos to them, can drink anytime of the day! You can see and hear the locals giving their blessings umpteen times by tOaSTing. "MOT HAI BA, yo!" which means 1, 2, 3, yo!

The fun has yet to begin.Very happening Vietnamese Wedding! They've a live band and guests were invited to sing to liven up the place. Saw a potential "Vietnamese Idol"...hahaha. These people really sang and dance to their hearts' content. Their dance moves really retro and hilarious to me, even cutlery were used as music accompaniment.

OH NO! Darling's name is announced. He was invited to sing! He gamely went up to the stage. Limited English songs. In the end, Silas sang 'Hotel California' and took the opportunity to wish the newly-wed a blissful marriage =) Next being saboed was no other than Mr Tangga...haha...he got a shock...nearly puked his drink...

Damn! I was forcefully invited to join them in their dance. <<<#*@#&^!?>>> I'm definitely not game for it, tried all means to escape. I should have gone to the toilet :( There're 2 idiots who kept on pulling me to the stage (Hey Dudes! I don't think I know you well....SHOO! SHOO! =S)

If not for that scary experience, I would have enjoyed myself so much more in this local wedding affair. In any case, still wanna wish Nhat & Luan a Happy & Blissful Marriage ahead.
